PEGA DOMÉSTICA #2

CENTRO CULTURAL do CARTAXO
08

This exhibition continues to tell the tale of “domestic bullfighting”. Ana Fonseca presents the 200 years of history through a collection of objects/ artefacts from the Royal Society of Domestic Bullfighters. They are presented by the artist as a secret society that wants to open up to contemporary society through this exhibition that is why nobody has not heard from them before.

Ana created a link between the local community and her work, since Cartaxo is a city in Ribatejo well known for its bullfighting traditions. It was important for her to see how a bullfighting community would see her work. She started to construct the tale for this exhibition from the memories of her father in Cartaxo as a bullfighter.

In Pega Doméstica#2, the idea of Domestic Bullfighting as a game is not lost in this second exhibition as she presents the future for this fictitious tradition: a video game console where the player may choose to be the bullfighter or the bull.
